The Sabrosa Story:

Sabrosa Foods Inc. was founded in 2001 by Duane Thompson. He first formulated his healthy all natural, low acidic roasted bell pepper salsa in 1995 while in college. Since he was an athlete and played football he was very health conscious and particular about the foods he consumed however, Duane was a salsa fanatic or as he liked to refer a “SALSAHOLIC” and would take full advantage of every opportunity to put salsa on any dish he ate: fish, chicken, baked potatoes, chips, and just about anything else you could put a topping on. In short, salsa was his all in one condiment. By his sophomore year Duane began to experience stomach problems; acid reflux, heartburn and bloating which seemed to get worse each time he ate meals topped with traditional brand tomato based salsa. After several doctors visits for what he thought was a stomach ulcer he began to associate the ill effects with the store bought tomato base salsas with high acidic levels and preservatives. Upon researching his problem Duane learned the ph levels in tomato based salsas coupled with the unnatural preservatives was a direct cause for his stomach discomfort and reflux symptoms.
